In winter/spring 2024, the Plantation applied to host a Fellow through the Island Institute Fellowship Program. The purpose of hosting a Fellow in community would be to have added capacity for these projects. The role would involve both project and grant management, including research into funding opportunities and applications to them.

Fellow Tom arrived on island in September 2024 for his fellowship. After a year in this role, building momentum for these projects, he moved onto other opportunities.

Fellow Liz arrived on island in September 2025. She used the transition documents Fellow Tom created to onboard to the projects, leaning on the support of First Assessor Jim Buccheri and Municipal Administrator Carley Feibusch. At the 2026 Annual Town Meeting, the community voted to fund her position for an additional year. Her fellowship term will end in August 2027.

In June 2026, the Plantation applied to the Technical Assistance Opportunity offered by the Community Resilience Partnership for support protecting the Meadow Aquifer from saltwater intrusion. If selected, the Plantation will be supported in developing nature-based design plans for Monhegan Avenue and Swim Beach Lane as the main barriers to saltwater intrusion into the aquifer. The Plantation received a Letter of Support from the Monhegan Associates indicating their enthusiasm for long-term consideration of how to ensure the status of the Aquifer as a viable water source for the community.
