Waterfront Access Committee (WAC)

The Waterfront Access Committee (WAC) was formed in spring 2026 by the Monhegan Board of Assessors to pursue the following objectives:

  • Facilitate public communication,
  • Educate the public,
  • Receive public comment, and
  • Workshop feedback into actionable items for the community and the Board of Assessors.

This is a volunteer committee formed of community members appointed by the Board of Assessors because of their representative roles on the island. At which point Committee Members step down, they are asked to train their replacement in advance of their departure.

Committee Members:

Kyle Murdock (Chair)

Nick Cennamo

Jacob Stone

Alexander Reid

At the first meeting of the committee on May 28, 2026, the Committee Members developed a Statement of Purpose to help guide them in their discussions. The following were key elements of that topic:

  • Affordability: both in terms of cost of infrastructure and how it impacts cost of living on island over the long-term;
  • Security: how actions set the island community up to resist the impacts imposed on us by the outside world;
  • Resilience: the way that actions taken or infrastructure adapted are able to be useful and enjoyed by future generations.

On July 15, 2026, the WAC held a Public Hearing to discuss a draft of Wharf Standard Operating Procedures. The purpose of the meeting was to gain public feedback and reach consensus on Wharf operations. The minutes for that meeting will be posted here once approved by the Committee Members.
