Monhegan Plantation is looking for a Treasurer!

The Treasurer is responsible for the day to day handling and oversight of all monies collected by the plantation,
management of investments, and preparation and maintenance of financial records. Treasurer duties are
currently performed by the Municipal Administrator who will be available to assist the Treasurer.

Work is performed under the direction of the Board of Assessors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
– Deposit monies received and make/ disperse receipts
– Keep financial records in QuickBooks and submit reconciliations to assessors monthly
– Manage payroll for plantation and school employees
– Pay school and town warrants
– Compile needed financial documents for annual audit and be available to auditors for any questions
– Create budget for Treasurers Department
– Submit annual treasurers report for annual report
– Manage Tax Lien Mortgages

Requirements:
Basic computer knowledge is necessary. Candidate should possess basic accounting and cash management
knowledge. Experience in QuickBooks and excel is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Special Qualifications:
Candidate must be a resident of the State of Maine. Remote possibilities are available but candidate must be
able to travel to the Monhegan Town Office regularly, on average once a month.

Compensation:
This is an elected position with an annual stipend range of $4,368.54- $7,498.40 depending on how
independently the candidate can complete the duties without the support of the Town Administrator.
