Community Meeting

Monday, February 12th 5:30-6:30 on Zoom

 

After getting over 60 responses to the Healthcare Access Survey, holding a great Town Hall meeting in September attended by over 30 community members and 4 Working Groups meeting over the Fall, there are 3 Proposals to present, discuss and prioritize:

  • Implement an Island-based year-round licensed EMS /911 response with at least 1 licensed Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).
  • Create/Build a community center that includes year-round telehealth, in-person health services capability and individual/community wellness facilities (e.g. a small gym/exercise area) and possible housing for visiting medical practitioners.
  • Develop formal provider relationships with in-shore medical practices that include regularly scheduled Island visits for medical and laboratory services.

At the Zoom Community Meeting, we will:

  • Share more details of what’s involved in each proposal – both short & long-term.
  • Share information on estimated costs and possible outside funding sources.
  • Choose the top priority to recommend to the Assessors for further investigation and/or implementation.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide the Board of Assessors a clear direction and starting point to dramatically improve the Healthcare and Wellness services available to the year-round community, a key to keeping Monhegan a viable, vibrant place to live and work for years to come!
