The plantation is considering creating a per person head fee on day trippers and island visitors to generate funding to repair the public wharf. The plantation has explored multiple funding pathways yet it is necessary to consider how Monhegan can generate funding pathways without external support. Recent funding pathways that have been explored are through the US Army Corp of Engineers, Congressionally directed spending, smaller scale state grants such as; the Department of Marine Resources Shore and Harbor Grant, GOPIF Community Action Grant, Island Institute Community Impact Grant, and Island Institute Fellowship.
